Michael Beaudry
When Michael Beaudry decided to drop out of the college pre-med program he was enrolled in and go to diamond cutting school instead, it was a loss for the medical profession, but a huge gain for the jewelry industry. An artist in a family of lawyers and professionals, Michael's career decision was heavily influenced by his late uncle Raymond, a master diamond cutter, in whose studio the young Michael spent many happy hours of his youth. Though blessed with the steady hand of a surgeon, the former pre-med student could not deny his intense creative aspirations.
Michael began his career at the American School of Diamond Cutting and received training later at the Gemological Institute of America. After completing his formal education, he opened a small diamond cutting shop in the Jewelry District of Los Angeles, where his career took off. Today he deftly melds classic designs, old world craftsmanship and finely cut gemstones into what many connoisseurs call "little pieces of art". The delicate filigree and hand-engraving of many of Michael's pieces are reminiscent of the finest estate jewelry of yesteryear. His work has been featured in national magazines, like Town & Country and In Style, and GQ recently featured him as one of the Designers of the 21st Century.
