INVITATION TO FIGHT HUNGER AND RAISE AWARENESS WITH TIVOL IN SEPTEMBER

Opportunities To Give All Month As Tivol Partners With Harvesters and Celebrates Cathy Tivol’s Birthday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (August 25, 2010) – Tivol is supporting Hunger Awareness Month throughout September with a birthday celebration and food donation collection sites at its Briarcliff Village, Hawthorne Plaza and Country Club Plaza stores as part of its “100 Acts of Kindness” campaign celebrating the company’s centennial. Recognizing the importance of hunger awareness and increased demand for philanthropic support, Tivol is partnering with Harvesters during the entire month of September and inviting the communities throughout the metropolitan Kansas City area to join them.

There are two ways to join Tivol in supporting Hunger Awareness Month:

  1. DONATE: Barrels will arrive with donations accepted September 3 – 18 at the Briarcliff Village, Hawthorne Plaza and Country Club Plaza locations. The community is encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to any of these locations.
  2. PUBLIC INVITATION TO CELEBRATE: Join Tivol for a community volunteer day to celebrate Cathy Tivol’s birthday on Sunday, September 12, 10:00 a.m. – noon. Harvesters is designating a block of volunteer times to stuff backpacks and support the many needs of the organization in fulfilling the increasing demands. Additionally, Tivol is participating in Quisenberry-Harvesters Celebrity Golf Classic, September 27 with a team and as a hole sponsor. Initiated by Royals relief pitcher Dan Quisenberry in 1993, local sports and media celebrities, businesses and community participants all turn out to pay tribute to Quisenberry's memory and support hunger relief at the October tournament.
